The Bronco is Ford's off-road-focused SUV, revived in 2021 after a 25-year absence. It competes with the Jeep Wrangler for trail capability, but it offers meaningfully better towing: 3,500 lbs standard across most trims, with the Heritage and Raptor reaching 4,500 lbs. That compares favorably to the Wrangler's 3,500 lb ceiling on most configurations.

Three engine options drive the towing ratings. The 2.3L EcoBoost four-cylinder powers the volume trims (Big Bend, Outer Banks, Badlands) at 3,500 lbs. The 2.7L EcoBoost V6 appears in the Wildtrak at 3,500 lbs and the Badlands at 3,500 lbs, where the larger engine does not increase towing because the truck's off-road hardware adds weight. The 3.0L EcoBoost V6 in the Heritage and Raptor pushes to 4,500 lbs with a GCWR of 10,650 lbs.
