Ford Ranger Towing Capacity

The Ranger is Ford's midsize truck, redesigned for the 2024 model year with a new platform shared with the global Ranger and the Bronco. It competes directly with the Toyota Tacoma and Chevy Colorado in the midsize segment, and its maximum towing capacity of 7,500 lbs gives it a 1,000 lb advantage over the Tacoma's 6,500 lb ceiling.

Three engine options are available: a 2.3L EcoBoost four-cylinder (the volume seller), a 2.7L EcoBoost V6 (Raptor only in 2024, available more broadly in 2025), and a 3.0L EcoBoost V6 that paradoxically tows less at 5,510 lbs. The 3.0L's lower rating comes from its use in heavier, off-road-oriented configurations where the truck's curb weight eats into the GCWR budget.

All Rangers come as SuperCrew with a five-foot bed. Unlike the F-150, there is no cab or bed length variation to worry about. The towing capacity is straightforward: check which engine you have, and you know your number.
