2024 Toyota Tacoma Towing Capacity

The 2024 Tacoma marks a complete redesign and the start of the fourth generation. The 3.5L V6 is gone, replaced across the board by a 2.4L turbocharged four-cylinder producing 278 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. The turbo-four is a different driving experience than the old V6, delivering its power lower in the rev range, which actually helps when pulling a trailer up a grade.

Towing capacity holds steady at 6,500 lbs for the standard powertrain trims (SR through Limited), a slight improvement over the 2023 V6 in 4WD. The bigger news is the i-FORCE MAX hybrid, available on the TRD Pro and Trailhunter. The hybrid adds an electric motor and battery pack for 326 combined horsepower, but it also adds roughly 300-500 lbs of curb weight. That pushes towing down to 6,000 lbs and payload as low as 1,060 lbs on the Trailhunter. If your priority is towing rather than overlanding, the standard turbo trims are the better choice.

The tow package comes standard on TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited, TRD Pro, and Trailhunter. It is a dealer-installed option on the SR and a factory option on the SR5, so verify before buying.
